Pilnatis Shorts in Lemon are currently on pre-order. These will be shipped at the end of May.

Meet the Pilnatis Shorts. Meaning "full moon" in Lithuanian, these carefree shorts are inspired by the pagan moon ritual of starting afresh. Perfect for the warmer weather and cosy days indoors. Made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton.

Pair with the Delčia Sweater for a co-ord to end all co-ords.

100% Oeko-tex cotton. It is recommended to dry-clean only.

It is strongly recommend against washing your knits in the washing machine even if you have a hand-wash programme. This can potentially irritate the material, which can result in a shrunken/rough knit. And no one wants that.

Please note that most of The Knotty Ones items are knitted by hand and therefore each item is unique. Some colours and sizes are made to order, hence it can take up to 9 business days for your new knit to be dispatched.

Once your order is shipped, we estimate you will receive your order within 3-7 business days of its ship date.

Shipping times may vary.

Our knits are purposely oversized, so if you want a snugglier look, we recommend to size down.

Emissions

Certified carbon neutral, The Knotty Ones have been rated based on their emissions throughout their supply chain, inclusive of transportation, travel and waste from operations, as well as direct and indirect emissions including fuel and electricity consumed at the manufacturing facilities. By working mostly with sole knitters alongside some production factories, most of the processing is done by hand, meaning that there are significantly fewer emissions than a traditional factory. By using Okeo-tex certified cotton which contain no man-made synthetic fibres, this choice of material is renewable and does not require toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process.

Circularity

This knit piece uses Okeo-tex certified cotton which is 100% biodegradable. The full process for each knit is considered to limit its waste; this includes having both handmade production pieces and higher volume items which use ‘fully fashioned’ production. These would involve the piece being individually factory-knitted and then sewn together by hand. The benefit of this is that you can ensure no leftover scraps are made, even when more units are being created.

The Knotty Ones only ever produce as much as needed, with some pieces being on a pre-order model. Packaging is made from corn starch, is 100% recycled, recyclable and compostable. By only using certified home compostable mailing satchels, they can be used twice (they have fitted tapes for second use) before it’s composted for good.

Water Consumption

As the majority of The Knotty Ones clothing is made by hand, the tailors don't use any electrical devices and only thread and metallic needles. Water is only used where it is necessary to wash the threads for the final usage. By choosing wool to knit with, it is self-cleaning when in the fresh air, which means that it should be washed rarely. In some stages, small amount of water is used to steam final product but this is only in rare cases.

Workers Rights

On each garment you'll find the name of the knitter who made your piece. Knotty Ones work with around 70 hand-knitters who work from home in rural Lithuania and two family-run, female-founded partner production factories. Some work full time, others knit around their home life schedule. The Knotty Ones firmly believe in not just providing jobs, but also creating and strengthening communities. Their goal is to provide financial independence for all of their knitters, plus a little more. With men remaining the breadwinners in many parts of rural Lithuania, by encouraging financial independence, they're helping women to have voices in their households and communities.
